I have to start off by saying I really enjoyed the first books in the pride series and they held my interest all the way through, I feel like this book just fell short of my overly high expectations.

When I first read the blurb for the book, I was so excited and it came across as what would be a hilarious, fantastical read. However, when reading, I just completely lost patience with the characters – specifically the heroine who drove me nuts.

I thought the strained friendship of the lead characters at the beginning of the book was quirky and cute but when it got to literally 350 pages (of around 800) and they still hadn’t even considered being together I lost interest.

I think that I expected too much when I originally asked for the ARC considering I enjoyed the previous books, but this one was a little too long, with too much detail of things I didn’t need to know. The female lead  was very confrontational and she seemed to not really like the lead male as a person beyond the fact that he was good looking.

On the bright side, there are some good scenes: Like when she jousts to win a years supply of honey – I thought that was amusing. Also, when she was found naked in his cupboard. There’s a good bit of action and drama, the book was just not what I expected.
